On September 11, 2025, the League of Women Voters – Oakland Area hosted a City of Rochester Candidates’ Forum at City Hall, giving residents an opportunity to hear directly from those running for City Council.
The event, held at 400 Sixth Street, featured a moderated Q&A session where candidates responded to questions submitted by both the moderator and the public. Topics ranged from infrastructure and fiscal responsibility to neighborhood services, community growth, and overall quality of life in Rochester.
The forum was designed to provide residents with clear, firsthand insights into each candidate’s priorities and approach to leadership. With questions covering a wide spectrum of issues, the event offered a platform for candidates to share their perspectives while giving residents the chance to compare different viewpoints.
The League of Women Voters emphasized that events like this play a vital role in local democracy by promoting transparency and giving the community direct access to those seeking office. Rochester residents in attendance and those watching online were encouraged to take away a better understanding of the challenges facing the city and how each candidate proposes to address them.
